Back by popular demand! A 10-week series of training runs and clinics that prepare women to run in the North Carolina Roadrunners Club Women’s Distance Festival 5K on Saturday in late September.

The Women's Beginner Running Program introduces (sometimes re-introduces) women to the sport of fitness running as a life-long activity and prepares them to complete a 5K race at their own pace and injury free. Our target race is the NCRC Women’s Distance Festival 5K held on Saturday, September 27th. in Raleigh.

The group will meet on Thursdays at 6:00 PM at Lake Lynn Community Center on Ray Road for a run and informational clinic will be held at 7:00 after running.

Other weekly runs are held at Shelly Lake/Sertoma Park - 1400 W. Millbrook Rd on the following schedule:

  • Monday at 6:00 am
  • Tuesday at 6:00 pm
  • Saturday at 8:00 am
  • Participants are not expected to be at every run.  Mentors are available at all of the runs to run with the class participants and no one ever has to run alone.

This highly successful program is designed and led by experienced female runners who have competed in 5K races as well as marathons, as well as by past graduates of beginner classes. ALL LEVELS OF RUNNERS ARE WELCOME!
